yes. cells in a gland make a chemical which leaves the cell through the membrane.

the two types of glands are endocrine and exocrine glands.
what is the difference between endocrine and exocrine glands?
exocrine glands secrete their products through tubes called ducts while endocrine (ductless) glands secrete their products into the blood vessels that pass through the gland.

the product of endocrine glands are hormones.
