Quality control
ensuring the quality of the radiograph produced
Quality assurance
ensuring quality control is effective + leads to change + improvement where + when it is needed
Quality audit
external assessment that quality control + quality assurance measures are satisfactory + that they work
What do we do? when do we do it?
dental practices are expected to have a QA system in place to monitor + improve services
this is requirement of current NHS general dental services contracts + likely to be a requirement in any future contracts
A QA programme
is usually laid out in writing with one person in overall charge: specific tasks given to individuals. they will ensure the regularity of actions defined + completion of supporting records.
Warning sounds + lights
all X-ray units when in use should have dials, light + audible indicator when machine is in use (automatic processors have lights indicating when ready for use)
