Safe light

A

A filtered light in the dark room with a bulb no more than 15 watts so operator can see what they are doing + protect the film

Outside the room

A

There should be a warning light to indicate processing taking place + lockable door to prevent intrusion as light contamination will render the film useless

The process-

A
  1. Sensitised film is taken to dark room and temp of developer / processing time checked + calculated

Film is unwrapped + placed on hanger + immersed into developer tank, timer is set for required time

Once timer sounds, remove from developer * immerse in water tank, agitating slightly for 10-30 secs then remove

Place fixer for double development time (light can be turned on at this stage)

Remove + place in tank with slow running water to wash chemicals off of film
Hang in a cool dust free area to dry and then mount + label

Rules for chemical temperatures are:

A

20c for 5 mins then increase or decrease time by 1/2 a minute to ever 1c different
E.g 18c is 6 mins
The higher the temp of developer, the less time required
