Manual processing Flashcards
Requires
A clean dark room or dark box and process is technique sensitive
Equipment should be
Well serviced + timers, heaters, thermometers must be used
Safe light
A filtered light in the dark room with a bulb no more than 15 watts so operator can see what they are doing + protect the film
Outside the room
There should be a warning light to indicate processing taking place + lockable door to prevent intrusion as light contamination will render the film useless
The process-
- Sensitised film is taken to dark room and temp of developer / processing time checked + calculated
2
Film is unwrapped + placed on hanger + immersed into developer tank, timer is set for required time
3
Once timer sounds, remove from developer * immerse in water tank, agitating slightly for 10-30 secs then remove
4
Place fixer for double development time (light can be turned on at this stage)
5
Remove + place in tank with slow running water to wash chemicals off of film
Hang in a cool dust free area to dry and then mount + label
Rules for chemical temperatures are:
20c for 5 mins then increase or decrease time by 1/2 a minute to ever 1c different
E.g 18c is 6 mins
The higher the temp of developer, the less time required
