Structure of film packet Flashcards
The film
Is sandwiched between 2 sheets of black paper to protect it from light
Backed by
Lead foil to absorb stray radiation
These layers
Are encased in a light + waterproof wrapping
Both film + packet
Have a raised pimple on the side faving the tube - aids with orientating the film during exposure, mounting + viewing
The film is dual sided
Both sides are the same and covered in an emulsion
The emulsion consists of
Crystals of silver halide, usually silver bromide which is embedded into it
Film speed
Is dependent upon the size + numbers of silver halide in the emulsion
The larger the crystals + greater the number, the faster the film
The faster the film, the lower dose of the radiation needed and greater safety for the pt
Also
The film is a plastic base covered in an adhesive layer with the emulsion + then a protective layer on top
