Unexposed film packets should be:
in stock rotation so older films are used first

The x-ray film
must never be used after expiry, must be discarded of - old films will not expose correctly + image will be poor quality leading to retake + not achieving ALARP
Exposed films should be:
digital images stored on computer or disks
Exposed films should be:
intra oral films may be in plastic envelopes with pts details written on - then stored in pts record card
Exposed films should be:
extra oral films may have pts details written on with inedible ink or dentists may use sticky label
Exposed films should be:
marked with pts details including name, date the image was taken + the view used
