Structure of extra oral film Flashcards
1
Q
These films
A
Have the same basic structures as intra oral in as much as the emulsion is the active part
2
Q
Placed in cassettes
A
That have an intensifying screen on either side of the case, X-ray photons winter the cassette causing the phosphors in the screen to fluoresce or glow
3
Q
The light
A
It reflected onto the film + sensitises the emulsion
4
Q
The crystals in the emulsion
A
Are sensitive to light rather than xrays, but the remainder of the process is the same
5
Q
Films + intensifying screens
A
Must be compatible to make them work
6
Q
Importance of intensifying screen
A
It reduces the amount of radiation needed, by intensifying the action of radiation
