What does TCAS BLUE on the FMA mean?
Means that there is a TA and TCAS is armed and will engage if TA changes to an RA
What color does TCAS change to when an RA is triggered?
Green

1000 ft/min below 30000 ft
500 ft/min above 30000 ft
When should BLW be set on the TCAS panel?
When in descent or in cruise above FL390
What should be your setting on the TCAS panel for normal cruise?
ALL
What does a hollow diamond indicate on a TCAS display?
Other traffic. More than 1’200 ft vertically and beyond 6 nm but closer than 30 nm
What does a filled diamond indicate on a TCAS display?
Proximate traffic. +-1’200 ft and within 6 nm
What is the estimated TAU before reaching CPA for a TA?
20-48 sec dependent on altitude
What is the estimated TAU before reaching CPA for an RA?
15-35 sec dependent on altitude
What is the difference with the Above, Normal and Below settings for TCAS?
Above = 9’900ft above - 2’700ft below
Normal = 2’700ft above - 2’700ft below
Below = 2’700ft above - 9’900ft below
What is the difference between the “THRT” and “ALL” positions on the TCAS panel?
- THRT displays Proximate and Other intruders only if a TA or RA is present and they are within +- 2700 ft
- ALL displays all Proximate and Other intruders even if no TA or RA is present. Range is -2700 ft to + 2700 ft
