What are the timings of the outbound legs in a holding pattern at different altitudes?
At or below 14’000 ft msl = 1 min
What is the turn rate in a holding pattern?
25 deg angle of bank or 3 deg/sec whichever requires lesser banks
How big is the “zone of flexibility”, in degrees, when it comes to deciding the entry procedure in a holding pattern?

How do you fly a Tear drop entry?
Over the fix turn 30 into the pattern for 1 min and then turn back to intercept the inbound track to the fix
What is the recommended flap setting when in a holding pattern?
Clean
Should speed increases be requested in holding patterns below MSA?
No, as you may fly outside of the protected area
What factors can alter your preferred holding speed?
ICAO limit speeds or Speed Constraints
How should pilots use speed/flaps in a holding pattern when the ICAO speed is lower than Green Dot Speed?
Fly with Flaps 1 below 20000 ft and at S Speed
What are the 3 ways you can exit a holding pattern?
- IMM EXIT
- HDG if being vectored
- DIR TO
What is the recommended speed in a holding pattern?
