Summer Test Flashcards
Define the term velocity
Velocity is speed in a given direction
Define the term acceleration
Acceleration is the change in a velocity in a given time
How go we get m/s-2
Final speed -start speed over time taken
Define the term speed
Speed is the distance travelled in a certain time
How do we get speed(m/s)
Distance over time
Define the term carbon sink
A carbon sink stores CO2. Eg forest,oceans,bogs
Define the term carbon sources
Carbon sources release CO2. Eg. Volcanes, forest fires, warming oceans and melting permafrost
What’s the difference in climate change and global warming?
Climate change has a long-term change in whether was global warming increases the average global temperature due to greenhouse gases
Define the term greenhouse gases
Gas in the earths atmosphere trap some of the heat from the Sun escaping into space. These gases include carbon dioxide methane and water vapour
Name five sources of CO2
- Burning fossil fuels.
- Producing cement.
- Disposal of household waste.
- Volcanoes.
- Respiration.
Name four effects of increased CO2 levels
1.global warming which equals heat waves, drought, and crop failure
2. icecaps – glaciers melting equals to sea levels to rise and flooding
3. Warming seas and increasing acidic of them effects aquatic organisms e.g. bleaching of barrier reef
4. Snow/ice reflects his radiation from the Sun if they melt more heat is observed. This accelerate global warming.
