Open skills
A situation during a game where the picture is always changing.
Open skill practise needs to match the competitive situation
Closed skill
Takes place in a stable predictable environment and the player knows exactly what to do
Basic skills
Is the skill that the player finds easy and needs little concentration (side foot pass)
Complex skill
Needs the players complete attention and is technically difficult to perform. ( overhead kick)
Low organisation skills
Has clear simple phases and is technically difficult to perform
High organisation skills
Has a lot of complex phases or parts. To perform these skills you need: attention to detail, good co-ordination, and timing
Practice structure
Need to be planned according to the activity. Practice will then also be basses on the skill level, ability, fitness.
what is fixed practise
Where a skill is practised over and over again until it is perfected. Closed skills are normally practised in this way
What is Variable practice
Involves practising the skill in a variety of different situations, so that it can be adapted to suit different competitive situations
What are the 4 main methods a coach will use when giving guidance and feedback
Visual guidance
Verbal guidance
Manual guidance
Mechanical guidance
What is visual guidance
When a performer can see the skill being performed or practised.
E.g. demonstrations, video clip, photo
Terminal feedback
Is given at the end of a game of performance. This sort of feedback has the benefit of being more reflective
Concurrent feedback
Is given at the time of the performance. This sort of feedback can be acted on immediately
What 2 factors can help a performer prepare mentally for a game
Warm up- focused on the sport
Mental rehearsal- visualising the skill you want to complete in your head before doing it in the game,
