People who encourage or criticise performance

People who are doing the sport alongside you
Which others are passive?
Audience and co-actors
Which others are interactive?
Competitive co-actors and social reinforcers
What is the dominant response?
The stand-out response that the performer thinks is correct
What is evaluation apprehension?
The fear of being judged - the negative influence of others if the performer feels they are being watched
How do you prevent social inhibition?
• Get the players familiar with playing in front of a crowd
• Gradually introduce evaluation
• Improve focus and concentration
• Lower arousal levels
• Decrease the importance of an event
• Peer support groups
