Soc5 Flashcards
What are the principles of training?
Specificity
Progressive overload
Individual needs
FITT ( frequancy, intensity, time, type)
What is the definition of specificity?
Matching training to the requirements of an activity
What is progressive overload?
To gradually increase the amount of overload so that fitness games occur, but without the potential of injury
What is the definition individual needs?
Matching training to the requirements of an individual
What is an example of individual needs?
When planning a PEP the needs of the athlete must come first
What does FITT stand for?
Frequancy(how often)
Intensity (how hard)
Time(how long)
Type(training method)
What is the definition of frequancy?
Frequancy means how often you train. Frequancy can be adjusted to help you manage progressive overload. For example, you may go from running three times a week to four.
Rest
The period of time allocated to recovery
Recovery
Repair of damage to the body caused by training or competition
Adaptation
Your body’s response to training and how your body changes to cope with new activity
