Soc 9 - Long Term Effects Of Exercise Flashcards
Adaptation
Your body’s response to training and how your body changes to cope with new activity
Aerobic
Working at a moderate intensity level with oxygen
Anaerobic
Working at a high intensity level without oxygen
Alveoli
Tiny sacs at the end of the bronchioles, where gaseous exchange takes place
Diaphragm
The primary muscle used in the process of inspiration or inhalation
Cardiac output
The amount of blood ejected from your heart in one minute (CO) = (SV) x (HR)
Resting stroke volume
The amount of blood pumped per beat
Recovery rate
The speed at which your heart returns To RHR after you exercise
5 Effects on the Cardiorespiratory system (heart)
-Decreased RHR
-Faster recovery rate
-Size of heart
-Increased stroke volume
-Inorgased cardiac output
4 Effects on the Cardiorespiratory system (lungs)
-Increased number of alveoli
-Increased lung capacity
-Increased vital capacity
-Increased strength of the diaphragm and external intercostal muscles
3 Effects on the Cardiorespiratory system (blood)
-Increased number of capillaries
-Increase number of red blood cells
-Drop in blood pressure
4 Effects on the Musculo-skeletal system (muscles and bones)
-Strength of ligaments and tendons
-Muscle hypertrophy
-Increased bone density (osteoporosis)
-Adaptation
