Commercialisation
Making something available on the market; using something to make a profit
Media
The main means of mass communication (television, radio, newspapers and internet).
Deviance
Behaviour that falls outside the norms or what is thought to be acceptable; goes against the moral values or laws of the sport.
Negative Deviance
Deviance that has a detrimental effect.
Positive Deviance
Deviance where there is no intention to cause harm or break the rules
Sportsmanship
Qualities of fairness, following the rules, being gracious in defeat or victory.
Gamesmanship
Bending the rules without actually breaking them.
2 Example of Sportsmanship
-Shaking hands at the end of the game
-Being honest and respectful of the officials
2 Examples of Gamesmanship
-Claiming a catch in cricket when the ball has bounced
-Time wasting
2 Examples of Deviance
-Diving in football
-Doping - using PED’s to gain an unfair advantage
Example of Positive Deviance
Continues to play whilst someone is injured
Example of Negative Deviance
Deliberately handling the ball as an outfield player
