Continous
Working the body for long periods of time
Advantages: improves CVF, inexpensive
Disadvantages: may be boring, doesnt improve aerobic fitness
Fartlek
Method of training for runners where the terrain and speed constantly change
Advantages: can be done on variety of terrains, can be continous
Disadvantages: difficult for coach to moniter, may not be suitable terrains
Circuit
Series of excercises completed for a certain ammount of time/reps after one another
Advantages: good source of fitness, combines conponents of fitness.
Disadvantage: has to be set/planned out, have to pace yourself
Interval
Physical training involves alternating stages of high and low intensity.
Advantage: includes rest, includes repeated sprints(anaerobic)
Disadvantage: can be intense, find it boring
Plyometrics
Excercises where muscles use maximum force in short intervals of time
Advantages: improves explosive fitness, can be designed for specific performances
Disadvantages: need knowledge of your event or a coach. Need to progress gradually
Weight training
Involves weight to increase the strength of the muscle using a programme of excercises.
Advantage: Can be used to improve strength. Wide variety of exercises to choose from.
Disadvantages: need facilities. Need good form fo avoid injury
