Lever
Refers to a system of muscles and bones working together to bring about movement
Fulcrum
1st class
The point around which the lever rotates
(Joints)
Load
2nd class
The force that is applied by the lever system.
The load is the object you want to move a dumbell with you arm
(Weight)
Effort
3rd class
A force that is applied by the user of the lever system.
(Muscle)
First class lever
Fulcrum in the MIDDLE
Second class lever
Load in the MIDDLE
Third class lever
Effort in the MIDDLE
Example of a first class lever
An example can be nodding your head.
Another can be a tricep dip
Or elbow extension
Example of a second class lever
An example can be a calf raise
Example of a third class lever
An example can be a bicep curl
Mechanical advantage
When the output of the lever is greater then the input of the lever - that is when the load is greater then the efforr so you get more out than you are putting in
Mechanical disadvantage
Opposite of a mechanical advantage, happens when the effort load are on the same side of the fulcrum but the effort sits ckoser to the fulcrum than the load does
