Ribs
Classification of Short bones
Weight bearing
Classification of Flat bones
Protect viral organs /muscle attachment
Long bones
Generate movment (leavers)/ streangth
What do irregular bones do
Protect organs and attachments for muscles
What are flat bones
Flat bones usually protect organs or offer a good surface for muscles to attach to. For example, the ribs protect the heart and lungs. Other flat bones are; scapula, cranium and clavicle.
In sport
Flat bones protect your organs in contact sports and provide attachment for muscles to help movement.
