look for asymmetry in a mole
what does the B stand for
assess for irregular border
what does the C stand for
is the color a mix of different colors or has it changed recently
what does the D stand for
is the diameter >6mm
what does the E stand for
has there been an evolution in the mole size, shape, color
what staging do they use for skin cancer
clarks staging 1-5
how can a pt prevent skin cancer
limit sun exposure
stay away from sun lamps/tanning booths
avoid outdoor activities during hot part of day
wear long sleeves & long pants
wear hat w/ wide brim
use sunscreen
regularly check skin for mole changes
