Do Safe2Tell administrators filter the types of tips that they get?
The Safe2Tell administrators do not discriminate what type of tips goes to law enforcement, as they are all received by the Wyoming Highway Patrol Dispatch center, then filtered to LE agencies by jurisdiction all over the State of Wyoming.
Do Safe2Tell tips include only tips with a criminal component?
This includes tips with no criminal component, i.e. bullying, ditching, eating disorder, etc.
Are Safe2Tell tips considered a call for service?
SO’s and Patrol Officers will use these procedures to respond to any Safe2Tell tip, which will be considered a call for service.
During school hours when an SRO is on-duty for the school in the Safe2Tell tip.
- Safe2Tell tip is received. This will be by a text message to the SRO Sergeant and the SRO assigned to the school in the Safe2Tell tip. A Teletype will also be sent by the LCCCC to the SRO assigned to the
school. - The SRO handles the Safe2Tell tip just like a regular call for service to include completing any required paperwork, making the required notifications and issuing criminal charges.
- The SRO Sergeant, or another SRO handles the SatezTell Tip it the assigned SRO is unable to respond.
- The SRO or SRO Sergeant logs on to https:/www.p3tips.com dispo with the associated Tip ID # and
Disposition ID # and completes the report to document what actions were taken.
During non-school hours when an SRO is not on-duty, which includes but is not limited to: nights, weekends, spring break, summer break and holidays
- Safe2Tell tip is received. A Teletype will be sent to an on-duty patrol officer.
- The patrol officer will decide based on sound judgement, if the tip requires immediate handling, or if the tip can be forwarded to the SRO assigned to the school.
• If a determination is made to forward the Safe2Tell tip, the patrol officer will email the assigned SRO and the SRO Sergeant via the CPD SRO email group.
• It the tip requires immediate LE attention, the patrol officer handles the Safe2Tell tip just like a regular call for service to include completing and required paperwork, making the required notitications and issuing criminal charges.
The patrol officer logs on to https://www.p3tips.com/dispo with the associated Tip ID # and
Disposition D # and completes the report to document what actions were taken.
The patrol officer notifies the SRO and SRO Sergeant via the CPD SRO email group.
What types of Safe2Tell tips require immediate attention?
The following list should be considered as a guide for patrol officers to reference, indicating what incidents require an immediate police response.
This list includes but is not limited to:
Any threat of violence to a school, or person
Suicide threats
Any tip involving a weapon
Any tip mentioning explosives
Child abuse
Domestic violence
Drugs
Sexual Assault
Who has the ultimate responsibility when SROs are off duty for a Safe2Tell tip to be handled in an immediate manner?
The on-duty patrol supervisor has the ultimate responsibility of ensuring time sensitive Sate2 Tell tips are handled appropriately.

The SRO program establishes what?
The purpose of the School Resource Officer is to act as a liaison between police, the school district, students, and the community. The goal of this is to provide a safe environment at the schools of Laramie County School District #1, within the city limits. The program also establishes open lines of communication between School Resource Officers and School Administrators in order to provide the safest environment possible for the students, faculty and families.
How many high schools, junior highs, and elementary schools are in LCSD1 that SROs are responsible for?
4 high schools
3 junior highs
23 elementary schools
How will SROs deal with criminal violations?
SROs will investigate criminal violations and consider input from the faculty when determining how to resolve the incident.
Where will SROs be a visible presence within their schools?
SROs will be a visible presence within their schools. Specifically, SOs should be visible and accessible in the school hallways, cafeterias, and parking lots. SROs should also patrol the perimeter of their schools before, during and after school hours.
What other job function will the SRO provide?
SROs will be available as guest speakers for the district. This ensures the SRO may be utilized as a resource for students, staff, parents and school administrators.
Who will the SRO communicate with if they will not be present within the school?

SROs will communicate to their school officials any time they will not be present in the school.
The SRO will inform their school officials who may be contacted if issues arise in the absence of the school’s assigned SRO.
How does an SRO get their weapon out of the safe in their office?

- When opening the safe, the SRO office door will be closed to public entry.
- When opening the safe, there may be no other subjects present in the SRO’s office
- Safes will remain closed and locked at all times unless specified otherwise in policy.
What are the rules regarding the combination to the gun safe in the SRO Office?
Combinations:
• Each SRO will maintain their individual 6-digit combination.
Combinations are not shared with staff, students, or other members of CPD.
All combinations will be maintained by the SRO Sergeant.
Combinations will not be maintained in written form within the SRO office.
• If any combination changes are made, the SRO will immediately notify the SRO Sergeant.
The safe’s E-Locks will be checked on a weekly basis.
