If detonation has not occurred, how should an officer respond? 4 points
as rapidly and safely as possible without lights/siren.
Cease radio transmission and shut off cell phones within one block of the reported incident.

search of both the interior and exterior of the building, utilizing members of their organization in
areas in which they are familiar, emphasizing that if a suspicious device is found, they should
immediately notify on-scene officers and not to touch or move the device
How should evacuations be handled?
Evacuation – The evacuation of public/private citizens from a building is primarily a managerial decision.
When can an officer give advice on evacuation?
An officer may only advise when a “bomb threat” is received, and a device is not located.
If a suspected device is located, law enforcement may do what in regards to an evacuation?
If a suspected device is located, law enforcement may cause evacuation of the area for public safety.
If detonation has occurred, how should an officer respond?
If detonation has occurred, respond:
- as rapidly and safely as possible with lights/siren per FLD130-4.14
- Secure the scene.
- Ensure medical assistance for the injured.
- Begin ICS protocols.
Supervisors will begin response procedures with what following goals?
Locate any actual or suspected device through established procedures.
Isolate any device by establishing a minimum safe distance of one city block for devices about
the size of, or smaller than a backpack. As the size of the device goes up, so does the minimum
safe distance.
Evacuate all personnel within the established minimum safe distance area

On any bomb threat, non-specific in nature (i.e. the threat only states that a device will explode
without giving information as to time, type, etc.), the initial response will be from the Patrol
