rocuronium (class)
nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent
rocuronium (actions)
provides skeletal muscle relaxation including respiratory muscles and gag reflex
rocuronium (indications 2)
rsi for paralysis when succinycholine is contraindicated or if prolonged transport time is anticipated
to maintain paralysis after adequate sedation has been provided
rocuronium (dosage/route)
rsi: 1mg/kg IV/IO
maintenance dose: 0.2mg/kg IV/IO
rocuronium (side effects)
transient hypo/hypertension
rocuronium (contraindications)
hypersensitivity to the drug, other neuromuscular blocking agents or bromide
rocuronium (special information 4)
use with caution in patient with neuromuscular disease or hepatic dysfunction
onset of action is 45 seconds and lasts for 30 minutes
has no effect on conscious pain. adequate amnesia/analgesia should always be used concurrently
produces minimal histamine release
