should not be the sole agent use in management of hypovolemia
should not be administered in presence of tachycardias or vfib

tissue necrosis may occur with infiltration - d/c and circle area of infiltration and inform hospital
effects cease approx 10min after drip is d/c
assess efficacy of administration by reassessing bp/cardiac rhythm
will be deactivated if used with sodium bicarb
