repro anatomy 1 Flashcards
What are the regions of the pelvis and differences between men and women
Bones: Hips, saccrum, coccyx - ilium, ishium, pubis
pelvic inlet = opening, pelvic outlet = exit covered by muscles always smaller than inlet
True pelivis = between inlet and outlet
False pelvis = outlet to top of ilium
Male = narrower, 90 subpubic arch, curved coccyx
Female = brader >100 sub pubic arch, straigh coccyx
What is the peritnem and pelvic floor
Pelvic floor = pelvic diaphram, muscles closing the pelvic outlet
- levator ani muscle + coccygeal muscle
- openings for urthra, anus and vaginate (F only)
perineum = area below pelvic floor - anus, upper though, externa genitalia
2 anatomical divisions
- urogenital triangal, anterior vagina + urethra
- anal triangle, anus
What is the function of the testes and seminifeous tubules
Testes: produce spermatozoa, testosterone, inhibin
- Tunica albugina
Seminifeous tubules: testes broken into lobules, tubules within lobules
- Seminiferough tubules -> rete testis -> efferent ducts -> head of epididymis
Cells:
- nurse cells: help maturation of spermatozoa + secrete inhibition
- intersitial endocrine cells: secetes testosterone, loacted outer edge
- spermatogenic cells: produce spermatogonia which become spermatozoa
What is the function of the epididymis + ductus deferns
Epididymis: maturation of sperm
- contains - head body and tail
- sperm enter at effect ducts exit to ductus deferns
- takes 1-3 weeks for maturation
ductus deferns: transport and storgae of spermatozoa
- runs up spermatic cord, through ingual canal, superior to bladder to posterior of bladder -> dilates to become ampulla
- lined with smooth muscle to carry spermatozoa to ejaculatory duct
What is the function of the ejaculatory duct and urethra
Enjaculatory duct = intersection of the ampulla and the seminal vesicles
Urethra made from prostaic membranous and penile sections
Internal urinal sphincter - closes to prevent retrograde enjaculation and ensure semen moves down urethra
