Remote Indicating Compass And Flux Valve Flashcards
Remote indicating compass
~gyro magnetic compass
~flux valve compass
~slaved gyro compass
~magnetic heading reference system
Adavantages
~long term accuracy of the cmpass
~short term rigidity of the gyro
Components of the RIC
~magnetic detector
~heading indicator
~precession amplifier
~precession motor
The flux valve sends the signal to the stator(error detector).
Then the error signal (AC) is fedded to the amplifier error signal .then it converts to dc and gives a direction to the precession motor to rotate the horizontal gyro
Slaving is the term describing the re alignment of the gyro to the earth magnetic field
To provide a slaving ,facility the orientation of the earth magnetic relative to the a/c has to be detected
Flux valve ususlaly mounted in tthe wing tip
~the flux valve does not suffer from the same magnitude orf errors as the DRMC
~deviation is compensated fort thefore there is no need for a correcttion card
Flux valve
3 horns
120 degrees apart
Ferro magnetic material
Maximum saturation point
Exciter wil produce a amgnetic field and the earth magnetic field will saturate the waves ,whcih is fed toerror detector with nul seeker, which then amplified and directed to the precession motor to turn the gyro, doing so it will turn the error detector as well ,elimitaing the error ,so the its align with the north magnetic
Rapid slaving
Fast 60 degrees/min
Slow 30 degree/min
