Altimetry Flashcards
Density altitude
Height above a standard datum planewhich is theoritical level where the weight of the atm is 1013.2
Rate of change of pressure
Is non linear
The altimeter is calibrated over its entire operating range ( USUALLY FROM 5000FT below sea level up to to 80000ft)
Is calibrated give a linear presentation of the on linear atmosphere dsitribution.is achieved by the use of variable magnification lever system
Simple altimetre
1 needle
No presur3e esetting knob
1 aneroid capsule
Sensitive altimeter
3 needle
Pressure knob
Aneroid capsule stack
Vibrator
Height encoder (for transponder)
Servo altimeter
~a/c with no ADC
~E and I bar
~mechanical linkages removed
~lag virtually removed
~3 needles
~pressure setting knob
~aneroid capsule stack
RAIM ( RECEIVER AUTONUMUS INTEGRITY MONITORING)
~ensures the integrity of the data by taking multiple measurements to ensure a degree of redundancy.
~monitors more SVs than are necessary for a 3d fix to dchek for consistancy among their pseudo rangers ,there are 2 different standards:
BASIC RAIM :FAULT DETECTION
(Requires 5 satelites ,4 for fixing plus 1)
ENHANCED RAIM : fault detection and exclusion (FDE) requires 6 sat,4 for fixing plus 2
Altimeter errors
~INSTRUMENT
~MANOEUVRE
~POSITION

Sod PUD
SUC POD
SOD : static blocked pressure OVER READ in a descent
SUC: static blocekd UNDER READ in. A climb
PUD: pitot blocked UNDER READ in a descent
POC : PITOT blocked OVER read in a climb
Leak ALTIMETRY
~LEAK PRESSURISED:UNDER READS (BC OF HIGH PRESSURE ,GIVEN YOU A LOW ALTITUDE)
~LEAK UNPRESSURISED:OVER READS,(BC LOW PRESSURE,GIVEN YOU HIGHER ALT0
