ASI Flashcards
ASI
WHITE ARC
LOWER: VSo ,stall speed at max all up weight in the landing configuration (full flaps, gear down, power off)
HIGHER :end is VFe ,fastest speed with flap extended
Green arc
Normal operating speed range
~limited at the LOWER END by VS1 ,which is the minimum steaedy flight speed in a specific configuration (clean for light a/c)
~the upper limit of the green arc is VNo ,max normal speed
Yellow arc
~extends from Vno at the lower end ,to Vne at the higher end.
~VNe : never exteed speedd
The ASI Under reads the TAS at altitude ,the discrepancy being called ,density -error
The ASI can only indicate TRUE AIRSPEED TAS at the density for which the ASI is callibrated (ISA MSL)
To maintain the same IAS at altitude ,the TAS need to fatster (less denisty) ,so the ASI under reads.
If below MSL ASI will over read the TAS
Tas above 300kts
Correction for compressibility if you are above 300kts
Gps and unreliable airspeed
~clock error
~orbit error
~position error
~climb error
Asi blockage
PUD : pitot blocked ,UNDER READS in a descent
(Static presure increases in the descent ,pressure capsule capsule)
POC: pitot blocked, OVER READS in a climb
(Static pressure decreases in the climb, pressure capsules expands ,over reads)
Static blockage
SOD : static blocked over reads in descending
(Pitot /static pressure )
Asi static leak pressuried
