What is the purpose of needs analysis in the recruitment process?
Needs analysis allows the business to gain an understanding as to their recruitment needs. They have to decide on the number of employees, internal/external appointment, full/part time etc.
What are the three steps of the recruitment and selection process?
- Needs analysis
- Advertising the post
- Selecting from the applicants
What are the two documents that need to be created for needs analysis?
Personal specification and job description
What kind of information does a personal specification include?
Skills, knowledge, abilities, experience, qualifications.
What kind of information is a job description include?
Main duties, job title, wages/salary/pay scale, to whom the person is responsible, how to apply, hours.
What are Five ways companies can select from the shortlist?
Interview, trial/test, aptitude test, psychometric test, presentation.
What three documents do companies use to create a shortlist for a position?
CV (curriculum Vitae), personal statement/letter, application form.
Listed Maslow’s hierarchy of needs from most important to least important.
Self fulfilment, self esteem, social needs, safety, physiological needs.
What is an example of a physiological need at work?
High enough wage
What is an example of a safety need at work?
No health/safety risks
What is a example of a social need at work?
Working in a close team
What is an example of self esteem at work?
Worker of the month award.
What is an example of self-fulfilment at work?
Being given responsibility.
What is time rate payment at how can it motivate workers?
Time rate is when the worker is paid per hour worked. It encourages workers to work long hours but gives no reward for the quality of work done.
What is overtime pay and how can it motivate workers?
Overtime pay involves the time rate increased to encourage workers to work longer hours than normally specified.
