5.1.2- How Far? Flashcards
What is a homogeneous equilibrium?
An equilibrium in which all the species making up the reactants and products are in the same physical state (You will only study this type of equilibrium)
Define Le Chatlier’s Priciple
When a change is made to a system in dynamic equilibrium, the position of the equilibrium shifts in the direction that minimises the effect of the change
What is a heterogeneous equilibrium?
An equilibrium in which species making up the reactants and products are in different physical states
What is the only factor that can change Kc
Temperature
What happens to the position of Kc and the yield of products for a endothermic reaction, when temperature increases
Kc increases and the product yield increases
What happens to the position of Kc and the yield of products for a exothermic reaction, when temperature increases
Kc decreases and yield of products decreases
State the effect of change in concentration on Kc
No change
State the effect of change in pressure on Kc
No change
State the effect of a catalyst on Kc
No effect
Define the equivalence point
The point in a titration at which the volume of one solution has reacted entirely with the volume of the second solution.
