What are the benefits of recruiting internally?
- Motivating - other employees can see opportunity for career progression
- Already know the person and whether they fit in
- Retaining employees
- Cheaper and less time consuming
What are the benefits of recruiting externally?
- New ideas - can be motivating
- Doesn’t leave an empty position
- Allows a culture to be built - they know no different
What is internal recruitment?
Filling a position by promotion or demoting someone
What is external recruitment?
Filling a position by bringing a new person in from outside the business
What do job adverts include?
Job description, person specification
What is the difference between a CV and an application form?
CV - written by you, selling yourself
Form - written by employer, rigid
What are induction/trial days?
Settling the new employee in, showing them where they will work, giving them a taste of the job, meeting the team
What is off the job training?
Training outside the business, a course
What is on the job training?
training as you work, e.g shadowing someone
What is a TNA?
A systematic approach for determining what training needs to take place
What does a TNA consider?

What is induction training?
A form of introduction for new employees in order to enable them to do their work in a new profession or job role within a business. It is systematic training.
What is recruitment and selection?
The process of identifying a vacancy or a new job that is needed, identifying the needs and skill requirements for the job, advertising the position and choosing the most appropriate
What benefit can businesses gain from if the right employee is recruited?
Recruiting employees with the correct skills can add value to a business and recruiting workers at a wage or salary that the business can afford, will reduce costs.
