What is the weights and measures act (1985?
ensures that weights and measures must be as stated
What is the consumer rights act (2015)
an umbrella law ensuring product quality, delivery rights, that contract terms are fair, that you have the right to repair or replace and a 30 day right to reject
What are the consumer’s delivery rights?
Retailer is responsible until goods are in your possession. Retailers liable for delivery firm
What are consumer’s rights regarding the supply of a service?
Must be performed with resonable care and skill, prce must be reasonable, service must be carried out in a reasonable time - trader liable to redo it
What is the minimum wage act and what impact does it have?
Have to pay minimum wage and often have to pay above it to attract staff. People above minimum wage don’t want min wagers to be too close, have to pass onto customer
What is the General Data Protection Act (2018) and what impact does it have?
Must look after data, means you need a data protection officer. Need expert help. Expensive for small businesses. Need to keep up to data
What laws are there regarding employment?
- Discrimination not allowed on sex, disability, age, religion or sexual orientation
- National Minimum Wage Act
- Dismissal
What is fair dismissal?
Gross misconduct, misconduct, inability to do the job, redundancy, continued employment would break the law, incompetancy
What is wrongful disminssal?
Dismissed for the right reason but done under the wrong procedure
What is constructive dismissal?
Deliberately constructing a case where you have no option other than to leave
What rights to part time workers have?
The same as full time rights
What is the unsolicited goods act 1971?
It is illegal to demand payment for goods that haven’t been ordered
