Radiographic Presentations Of The Lower Limb Flashcards
When does satisfaction of search happen?
(3)
It’s a common error
It occurs when the reporting radiologist/radiographer fails to continue to search for subsequent abnormalities after identifying an initial one
A situation in which the detection of one radiographic abnormality interferes with that of others
What are key things to look out for?
Use the ABCs-
Basic essential normal radiographic anatomy
Common normal variants (which may mimic pathology and in particular how to interpret imaging using a systematic approach, which is logical and easy to remember)
2 views; one is never enough
2 abnormalities; if you see one abnormality, look for another
2 joints; image above and below (especially for forearm and leg)
2 sides; if unsure regarding a potential pathologic finding, compare to another side
