Q

What is the purpose of the FADEC ?

A

it processes incoming information and outgoing data related to the engine and controls the fuel flow based on that information
it also controls two bleed valves on the engine for surge avoidance normal steady sate and transient operation

18
Q

What’s is maximum SHP ?

A

5071 at MTOP for a few minutes

19
Q

What does the accessory box operate ?

A

Oil pressure and scavenger pumps
High pressure fuel pump
Permanent magnet alternator
DC starter generators

20
Q

Explain gas flow through the engine ?

A

air enters through the Low axial compressor then through the high centrifugal compressor
then into the combustion chamber

21
Q

What do the HBOV’s provide ?

A

They provide increase engine surging through two bleed off valves
one in the low stage compressor
one in the high stage compressor

22
Q

What is the basic philosophy of the PW150 engine ?

A

“close loop on power”

23
Q

What is ATPCS ?

A

automatic take-off power control system

24
Q

describe ATPCS.

A

The working FADEC receives “UP TRIM” signals from the failed engine which then sets the operative engine from NTOP to MTOP without any pilot input.

25
Q

how is fuel measured and controlled to each engine ?

A

The FMU receives signals from the engine FADEC based on engine power settings and sensors to deliver the correct amount of fuel from the high pressure fuel pump to the engine.

26
Q

What is NTOP ?

A

4580 shp

27
Q

What is MTOP ?

A

5071 shp

28
Q

How are DC gens cooled ?

A

air cooled

29
Q

How are AC gens cooled ?

A

oil cooled

30
Q

When will the engine pressure light come on ?

A

when a drop of oil PSI drops bellow 44 +/_ 3 PSI

31
Q

whit needles and blue triangle on the ED

A

white needle is requested

blue triangle is FADEC’s calculation

32
Q

Np under speed governer ?

A

660 rpn

33
Q

How many igniters per engine ?

A

2

34
Q

When operating in MCP what is the max temp for bypass doors ?

A

equal to or greater then ISA +25C

34
Q

When operating in MCP what is the max temp for bypass doors ?

A

equal to or greater then ISA +25C

35
Q

If you have a FADEC caution light

A

Do not go below disk !

36
Q

Where is FADEC powered from ?

A

essential busses

once power is above 20% PMA takes over

37
Q

p2.2 is used for what ?

A

cooling

38
Q

oil

A

5.9 us gal 22.2

min is 1.6 us gal 5.8

39
Q

When will the igniter auto ignite ?

A

when Nh falls below 60%

below 30% it shuts down

40
Q

Starter Limits

A

1-70sec-off 2min
2-70sec-off 2min
3-70sec-off 30min

in flight starts, both igniters command the start, ITT monitored required by the pilot.

43
Q

When do the igniters come off during start ?

A

50%

at 64.2 it goes into ground ldle and stabilizes from there

44
Q

FADEC will allow you to take off with what % power range ?

A

81%

45
Q

Will up-trim go to 100% under all percentages ?

A

NO it only adds 10% to the Rnp , if thats what you’re using for takeoff

46
Q

Torque limits

A

35% reverse
106% forward range
135% transient
125% in over travel

47
Q

How does the engine normally shut down ?

A

it uses the overspeed Nh circuit
