Q-FUEL SYSTEM Flashcards
Can you transfer fuel from engine to engine ?
NO
only tank to tank transfer is available, no engine cross-feed
What is the minimum and maximum fuel temperature
0-71 degrees
71 the red light comes on
where does the fuel for the APU come from ?
it comes from the left tank
the left tank feeds the left engine and the APU
how many bays does each fuel tank have ?
2
surge bay
collector bay
what will be the indication of a tank imbalance ?
AMBER BALANCE displayed on ED
How is Low pressure provided in the fuel system ?
primary ejector fuel pump
how does the magnetic dip stick work ?
its accessed from the bottom of the wing. the rod moves down slowly until the rod magnet is attracted by the float magnet and gives a fuel remaining on the main tank in units US gallons or litres
The reading is only 85% accurate
how does the fuel get from the main tank to the collector bay ?
VIA a flapper valve and fuel scavenger ejector pumps in each section of the main tank
how is the fuel measured for display on the MFD’s and ED’s
a FQC ( fuel quantity computer ) uses 9 probe sensors in each main tank
where else can you see the fuel quantity other then on the ED or MFD fuel page ?
on the refuel and de fuel panel located at the back of right engine nacelle
what do the surge tanks do ?
they are used for main tank and venting and fuel recovery
When does the TANK FUEL LOW light come on ?
when
305 lbs of fuel remaining in the collector tank
Park break is off
or the engine is running that has the low fuel
what is the consequences of taking off with the FUELING ON caution light ?
this means that the fuelling panel is still open . ( Not secure )
Whats happening when #1 or #2 ENG FUEL PRESS light comes on ?
the pressure in the engine driven pump has dropped below a preset limit.
what is the AUX TANK PUMP ?
each collector tank has an AUX pump used as a back up, and for takeoff and landings in case the primary jet pump in the collector tank doesn’t provide enough pressure.
