17
Q

TCAS

“Non-Threat” TRAFFIC: (open cyan diamond)

A

 Both pilots monitor and attempt visual contact with displayed traffic as flight deck duties permit

18
Q

TCAS

“Proximity Intruder TRAFFIC: (filled cyan diamond)

A

Both pilots monitor and attempt visual contact with displayed intruder. Attempt to correlate displayed traffic with ATC reported traffic. Observe the relative altitude and vertical trend, and anticipate
possible intruder upgrade to “TA” status.

19
Q

TCAS

“TRAFFIC ADVISORY (TA)”: (filled amber circle plus aural alert)

A

PF: Locates target on TCAS display and monitors any changes in the traffic’s flight path or new traffic targets. Call out position of “TA” using clock position and relative altitude. Assist in visual search.

 PM: Attempt to locate traffic visually. If traffic is spotted, advise PF of its relative position and direction of flight.

 Flight deck jump seat occupant: assist in visual search.

DO NOT DEVIATE FROM ASSIGNED CLEARANCE FOR A “TA” WARNING ONLY. “TRAFFIC ADVISORIES” are intended only for assistance in visually locating traffic and lack the resolution
necessary for use in evasive manoeuvres.

20
Q

“RESOLUTION ADVISORY (RA) (solid red square plus aural command)

A

PF: Disconnect the autopilot and initiate a climb or descent as required to follow the TCAS avoidance manoeuvre. Promptly and smoothly adjust your aircraft’s vertical rate so as to keep the IVSI needle in
the green “fly to” band of the IVSI.

 PM: Monitor IVSI command and aircraft performance relative to the RA (torque etc.) Continue to attempt visual contact with the traffic and advise the PF. Advise ATC of any change to assigned
altitude using standard phraseology. When clear of conflict, advise ATC. When cockpit duties permit, complete the RA EVENT form.

 Flight deck jump seat occupant: attempt visual contact with intruder.

21
Q

Windshear on Approach

A
  1. Simultaneously, select go-around (disengaging the autopilot) and aggressively apply Normal takeoff power (NTOP). (Advance condition levers to MAX, if required). If required, advance power levers to
MTOP (100%) or to the stops to arrest descent.
  2. Increase the pitch attitude by rotating the aircraft smoothly and steadily to achieve VGA (1.13 VSR).
  3. The stick shaker may activate at pitch attitudes lower than normal. Pitch attitude must be reduced just
    enough to silence the shaker.
  4. Do not change aircraft configuration until the vertical flight path is under control.
22
Q

Windshear on Takeoff

A
  1. Fly at V2 (1.13 VSR). If required, advance power levers to the stops to arrest descent.
  2. Decrease the pitch attitude immediately if stick shaker or buffet occurs.
  3. Do not change gear and flap configuration until the vertical flight path is under control.
