What happens when you open the alternate landing gear release door above FO’s seat ?
Opens check-valve and depressurizes the system
What is the the steering range with the steering tiller ?
70 degrees
How does the MLG and the NLG retract ?
The MLG retracts aft into the nacelle.
the NLG retracts forward into the nose section.
Explain the gear door enunciator lights. What do they indicate in terms of their position and advisory.
L DOOR-N DOOR-R DOOR.
Amber indicators gear door is open
Out indicates door is closed after gear cycle.
Explain gear safe advisory lights.
Green-gear down and locked
Blank-gear locked upright.
Explain selector lever lock switch
Must be pressed before you operate the gear.
Explain landing gear alternate realeas door.
Closed the landing gear operates normally via the landing gear lever.
Open- gear cannot be extended using normal hydraulic power and door must stay open for alternate gear extension.
Main release handle.
Must be pulled to release main gear hydraulic doors and main gear up locks releasing the main gear.
Landing gear alternate extension door.
Door closed, normal operation of the landing gear with the lever.
Door open, alternate gear hydraulic extension.
Door must remain open.
How can you verify the gear is down and locked when the alternate gear extension is used ?
Select the alternate gear verification switch and then observe the alternate gear verification lights turn green.
If the toggle switch is not armed aft the system won’t verify the gear down and locked.
What controls the whole landing gear system form the gear to the hydraulic doors and the advisory system ?
The proximity sensor electronic unit ( PSEU )
What prevents the gear from retracting while on the ground ?
WOW sensors.
If the theres a failure in the sensors the following caution light comes on.
WT ON WHEELS caution.
Explain gear retraction sequence.
Selecting gear level up.
The #2 HYD system retraction side activates the nose gear door and retract the nose gear.
It also opens the main gear aft doors and retracts the main gear.
What is the advisory sequence when the gear is retracted ?
Red lights L N R unsafe lights.
Amber lever handle
L N R safe lights out indicating gear is unlocked.
Amber gear door lights on indicating door is open.
What is the advisory sequence when gear lever is selected down ?
Unsafe lights -red
Safe lights- out
Gear lever - amber
Door lights - Amber
After successful gear extension only the safe - green lights should be on.
What procedure must be followed when the LDG INOP caution lights on ?
Alternate gear extension procedure.
Explain alternate gear extension.
Selecting the INHIBIT switch to inhibit isolates all hydraulic pressure from the landing gear system.
Opening the LANDING GEAR RELEASE door, opens a bypass valve in the normal gear extension and gives access to MAIN LANDING GEAR RELEASE HANDLE.
Pulling the handle releases the main landing gear door and up locks. The gear will free fall but may not extend all the way.
You then have to open the LANDING GEAR ALTERNATE DOOR, and use the hand pump.
The nose gear is released down by using NOSE GEAR RELASE HANDLE.
Where does the nose wheel steering get its power from ?
2 HYD System.
What are the nosewheel limits.
70 degrees-slow taxi
8 degrees - take off with the rudder pedals
120 deg if the nose steering switch is turned off !
Describe the breaks.
Each main wheel is equipped with multi disc break unit powered by the #1 HYD system.
An anti skid control into ( ASCU ) modulates the application of break pressure to the breaks.
When does anti skid work ?
When it’s turned on and speed is greater then 10 knots.
