Q-ICE PROTECTION Flashcards
How long does each boot cycle for in the automatic mode ?
6 seconds
How many boot cycles are there ?
6
How long is the dwell time during automatic mode in fast / slow ?
24 seconds in fast mode
3 min/ 144 in slow mode
What does the manual mode selection do on the airframe mode select selector ?
it manually heats up the DDV and the check valve heaters ( dual distributer valves )
Will the airframe manual mode work if if the airframe mode selector is not in the manual mode ?
No airframe mode selector must be off or in manual.
What is the indication of a leak in the pneumatic de-ice system ?
DE-ICE PRESS caution lights or de-ice pressure drops below 15 psi
When do the ice-detecton probes give an ICE-DETECTION message ?
when they accumulate enough ice to change the vibration pattern
How are the AOA vanes heated ?
Electrically automatically via AC power
When do the pitot heat caution lights come on ?
when they are off
What does INCREASE REF speed switch do ?
during icing it will increase Vref by 20 knots to help compensate for the condition
and the Low speed Cue increases
What is the minimum oil temperature for inlet-splitter de-icing ?
65 degrees in flight within 3 minutes
55 degrees required for take off
What conditions must be met for the engine intake adapter heaters to turn on ?
Bypass doors open
Temp less then +15
Engine oil with normal range
What happens if one of the intake adapter heaters coils fail ?
No indication unless both the primary and secondary fails
you get the ENG ADP HEAT 1 or 2 caution panel
How much ice must accumulate for the ICE DETECTED message to aluminate ?
0.5 MM of ice on the probes.
On the prop selector switch, what must be met for the prop heat test when selected to test ?
Np must above 400 rpm
AC power available.
What controls the prop heaters ?
The timer monitor control unit. ( TMCU )
What’s the min temp for the TMCU to activate the heaters with corresponding TAT ?
Less then 5 degrees.
What does ICE DETECT FAIL indicate ?
Both ice detector probes have failed.
Will a failure of one Ice detector probe cause a DEICE fail caution ?
No only when two have failed.
What is the isolation valve in the DEICE system ?
A valve that is normally open for uninterrupted flow to both pneumatic system.
The switch can be used to check pressure on either side.
It can be closed to isolate a leak on one Side.
If the TMU temperature monitor fails, will the DDV heater stay on ?
Yes by default.
If the TMU heater activation fails, will the DDV heaters come on automatically ?
No
What happens if the TMU fails ?
A DE-ICE TIMER caution light
When does the DEICE PRESS caution light come on ?
When the main DEICE pressure is less then 15 psi
Boot pressure does not reach 15 psi after DDV are open
Boot pressure remains at 15psi after DDV closes.
