• Size it by comparing the splint to the normal leg. The ankle stirrup needs to be a few inches below the ankle in order to make room for the setup.
• Place the board under the leg.
• Put the rubber bar in the infragluteal fold.
• Secure the top strap over the proximal femur.
• Secure the ankle strap over the ankle.
• Pull to reduce the leg.
• Secure the rest of the femur straps.

If you take off a tourniquet and there is no bleeding immediately, what do you need to keep in mind if you leave the tourniquet off?

The lack of bleeding could be from arterial spasm, and so they could start bleeding again.
