- AMS
- Fever
- Chills
- Abd pain
- New ascites

A
Nipple line

What do you need for a paracentesis?
A
- Chlorhexidine
- 18 g or 20 g needle (preferably spinal for the length)
- 10 cc syringe
- Pain ease spray
- US
- White cap from a flush syringe
- Gauze
- Tape or tegaderm
- Specimen bag

What landmark should you feel for in a paracentesis?
A
Have the patient lie flat and then feel for their iliac crest. Two finger lengths into their lower quadrants.

What is the preferred position and spot for paracentesis?
A
Left lateral decubitus, LLQ
