What is the ‘Alert Call’?
“WILL THE SENIOR CABIN CREW MEMBER REPORT TO THE FLIGHT DECK IMMEDIATELY.”
What is the alert call if it’s undesirable for the cabin crew to enter the flight deck?
“WILL THE SENIOR CABIN CREW MEMBER REPORT TO THE FLIGHT DECK VIA THE INTERPHONE IMMEDIATELY.”
How is the NITS briefing given when the flight crew are on oxygen?
It’s given by interphone.
Cabin crew should leave the flight deck and go to the nearest interphone.
When should a NITS brief advise a normal landing?
There is a low risk of an evacuation, e.g. there are no significant control difficulties and that the aircraft can be brought to a halt on the runway.
When should the NITS brief advise an emergency landing?
- Significant risk to persons on board such that the aircraft may leave the runway;
- Where a remote landing on land or water is required; or
- There are other compelling reasons for the Commander to prepare the aircraft for an evacuation.
What announcement is made bty the commander in the event of an emergency landing?
“THIS IS THE CAPTAIN, THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, BRACE. BRACE.”
During an emergency landing situation with time in hand, what PA does the Commander make?
“THIS IS THE CAPTAIN. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. CABIN CREW PREPARE FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING/DITCHING.”
This brief PA is to allow the cabin crew to mentally prepare for the emergency landing.
What announcement does the commander make when the landing is imminent?
“BRACE, BRACE.”
In a planned emergency landing what call does the Commander make at approx 3 minutes from touchdown?
“CABIN CREW TAKE YOUR SEATS FOR LANDING.”
In a planned emergency landing what call does the Commander make at approx 1 minute from touchdown?
“BRACE, BRACE.”
In the event of an emergency descent, what PA to the cabin is required?
The A350 is equipped with a safety feature which, in the event of a decompression, will perform an automatic emergency descent to a safe altitude, even if the flight crew have been incapacitated.
To advise cabin crew that an emergency descent is taking place and to confirm that the flight crew have not been incapacitated, the flight crew will make the announcement:
“ATTENTION CREW! EMERGENCY DESCENT”
