FLS Guidance Flashcards
How is the FLS vertical beam affected by temperature?
The FLS vertical beam (F-G/S) computation takes into account the effect of low OAT on obstacle clearance if the destination temperature is correctly inserted on the APPR panel of the FMS ACTIVE/PERF page.
What is the maximum difference between the FMS vertical path and the charted final vertical path?
0.1°
What is the maximum difference between the FMS lateral path and the charted final lateral path?
1°
How is LS data selected for display?
Press the LS pb to display FLS data on the PFD and ND
What is the maximum difference between the FMS lateral path and the charted final lateral path when flying an overlay procedure to a conventional radio navaid?
3°
For an FLS approach, what data must be checked against the published approach chart?
Check the following FLS data against the published approach chart:
- The anchor point
- The course of the F-LOC(LOC)(LOC B/C) beam
- The slope of the F-G/S beam
On the ND, check the compatibility of the FLS beam with the final approach leg of the flight plan.
For LOC only and ILS G/S out approaches, what constitutes the FLS data?
For ILS G/S out and LOC only approaches, FLS data is only composed of the F-G/S beam.
Before flying an ILS G/S out approach, what adjustments must be made to the navaids?
On the FMS POSITION/NAVAIDS page, press the DESELECT GLIDE button.
How can we check the capability of the FLS?
We use the FMA.
For RNAV(GNSS) approach: check that the FMA displays F-APP
For VOR, LOC, ILS G/S OUT, LOC B/C approaches, check that the FMA displays F-APP or F-APP+RAW.
What is the maximum acceptable discrepancy between altimeters for an FLS approach?
100 ft
CAUTION Obstacle clearance is not guaranteed if erroneous baro setting is selected, or if FLS guidance is used outside the published approach.
