Total blindness caused by:
Complete lesion of optic nerve
Bitemporal hemianopia caused by:
Pressure exerted on optic chiasm
(Pituitary tumor)
Right or left homonymous hemianopia caused by
Lesion in the left or right optic tract, respectively.
NB: Remember the nasal fiber(responsibe for temporal vision) is crossing in the optic chiasma, so the left optic tract contains right eye nasal fibers that resposible for right temporal vision
Right or left homonymous superior quadrantanopia caused by:
Patial involvement of optic radiation by lesion in the left or right temporal lobe, respectively.
NB: Remember the nasal fiber(responsibe for temporal vision) is crossing in the optic chiasma, so the left optic tract contains right eye nasal fibers that resposible for right temporal vision
Right or left homonymous inferior quadrantanopia caused by:
Partial involvement of optic radiation by lesion in the left or right parietal lobe
Right or left homonymous hemianopia is also caused by:
Complete lesion of the left or right optic radiation
