Neuropraxia Definition
A
- Injury to peripheral nerve(s)
- Temporary interruption of nerve function caused by damage to myelin sheath
- Neuropraxia < Axonotmesis (partial nerve damage) < Neurotmesis (completely severed nerve)

Neuropraxia Causes
A
- Trauma (fractures, dislocation, ligament or tendon injury, surgery, giving birth, or dental work)
- Compression (tumor, herniated disc)
- Ischemia (lack of blood flow)

Neuropraxia Prognosis
A
- Most cases resolve within a few weeks to months
- However, some people may experience long term symptoms if there is severe damage

A
- Neuropathy
- Burning
- Numbness or tingling
- Stinging
- Weakness or paralysis
- Pain
- Loss of sensation

- Rest
- Immobilization

- Severe cases — surgery
