A
  • Excessive human growth hormone production in skeletal mature patients, resulting in gigantism
  • Diagnosed in middle aged adults
  • Can result in disfigurement, complicating conditions, and early death
  • Insidious onset and slow progression

Acromegaly Common Findings

A
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome (can be bilat)
  • Joint pain related to osteophyte formation
  • Narrowing of joint spaces
  • Premature OA
  • Hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Frontal bossing
  • Weight gain, sleep apnea, vision problems

  • Impaired joint mobility
  • Impaired motor function
  • Impaired muscle performance and ROM
  • Due to connective tissue dysfunction, localized inflammation, spinal disorders, or peripheral nerve injury
