Vision blurriness, loss of diplopia
5% of patients have the following symptoms at onset
- Bladder dysfunction

- Dementia
- Movement disorder
- Pain

- Optic neuritis
- Lhermittes symptom
- Uhthoff phenomenon
- Useless hand
What is meant by a relapsing remitting pattern
Symptoms of MS get better and worse as if at random
What is meant by a primary progressive pattern
Symptoms get progressively worse
What is meant by a secondary progressive pattern
Symptoms begin off as relapsing remitting but then at one point begin to regularly get worse

Inflammatory, demyelinating condition of the CNS, generally considered to be autoimmune

Lesions in time and space
Brain atrophy
What is required for diagnosis of MS
Neurologic deficits
Dissemination in space
Dissemination in time
Exclusion of other causes
How would a preactive lesion appear in MS
Activated microglia (brown) Loss of myelin
How would a chronic active MS lesion appear
Macrophages at lesion edge
Engulfed myelin in macrophages
How would a chronic inactive MS lesion appear
Demyelination
Repair/ remyelination
Axonal loss
