Pharmacology of Morphine (actions)

A

CNS

  • Depression (leading to analgesia)
  • Respiratory depression
  • Depression of cough reflex
  • Dependance (addiction)
  • Stimulation (changes in mood, euphoria or dysphoria, vomiting, pin-point pupils)

CV

  • Vasodilation
  • Decreases conduction velocity through the A.V. node
