What does Stauffer syndrome present as?
Cholestasis/hepatosplenomegaly
Associations of RCC?
- Middle aged men
- Smoking
- Von-Hippel-Lindau syndrome
- Tuberous sclerosis
Investigations of RCC?
- USS
- CT chest abdomen, pelvis for staging
- FBC
- RFT & LFT
Treatment of small tumour in RCC?
- Surveillance in elderly unfit patients
- Ablation techniques in fit elderly patients and selected younger patients
Criteria for a small tumour?
<3cm
Criteria for a large tumour?
> 3cm
Treatment of a large tumour in RCC?
Partial nephrectomy
-Radical nephrectomy
Treatment of large TumourSS?
Radical nephrectomy (laparoscopic)
What is first line treatment for RCC, chemo or radiotheraoy?
NEITHER
RCC DOES NOT RESPOND WELL TO CHEMO/RADIO
What medications are used to shrink tumours in RCC?
Alpha-interferon (or receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors)
