There is active lime in the soil which quickens ripening. Grapes ripen up to 10 days earlier than in Sancerre. Reuilly is on the extremity of the Portlandian limestone chain. Coteaux de Giennois, Pouilly-Sur-Loire, Sancerre and Menetou-Salon are all on this chain as well.
