implementation: program
Each week, stories are shared by community members in their mother tongue (ensuring it is culturally appropriate)
adapted by literacy specialists to make them age-appropriate and then sent out in SMS to parents’ phones so children can practice reading at home (meeting the needs of the community).
include questions so that parents can ask their children once they are finished. There are recorded version of these sotries for illiterate parents (culturally appropriate).
implementation: other partner
Another partner, Breeze FM, a popular radio station, helped raise awareness of the program by asking community members to share their stories, either by text or dropping their stories off at the radio station (partnership).
implementation: distribution
These stories are then read on air and then listeners are invited to call in for their favorite story (provide education).
