Addresses the broader determinants
Social, economic and cultural factors including: gender, culture, race, SES and geographic location. These factors must be addressed if health is to improve.

Empowers individuals and communities
Individuals and communities - means people can be involved in decision making and must be taught health promoting skills and education.

Acts to enable access to healthcare
Barriers to health care such as income, geography, education and cultural differences must be addressed. Health care should cater to all budgets and individual circumstances.
