Fibre helps us to feel fuller for longer, ensuring that we feel satisfied making us not eat as much which can help control weight gain and therefore promoting healthy eating of Austrlians.
Also provides serving sizes and the number of serves based on age and gender.
ADG 3:
limit intake of foods containing saturated fat, added salt, added sugars and alcohol.
Take added salt out of guidelines if linked to obesity.

How does guideline 3 promote healthy eating of Australians?
By limiting the intake of foods containing saturated fats or added sugars, which are energy dense this can lead to more Australians consuming more nutrient dense foods from those 5 food groups. Helping them to avoid conditions such as obesity and CVD.
By limiting the intake of salt it limits the overconsumption of sodium, preventing hypertension and reducing the risk of developing CVD + calcium being excreted into the urine causing osteoporosis later in life.

to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, be physically active and choose amounts of nutritious food and drinks to meet your energy needs.

By consuming nutrient dense foods such as lean meats, Australains are consuming adequate amounts of iron reducing the risk of developing anemia.
